Classical Guitar for Savannah Area Weddings

Picture yourself making your way up the aisle with live guitar accompaniment.

I'm Savannah guitarist Doug Povie and I can provide this service for your special day. I'm a graduate of the University of Iowa School of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree, and I also hold a Masters Degree in Accomplished Teaching from Georgia Southern University. For the past 25 years I have taught band, jazz band, and guitar classes in Savannah schools. I perform at many weddings in Savannah and the surrounding areas each year. 

The classical guitar is perfectly suited for intimate wedding venues such as small chapels, the beach, historic homes, gazebos and home yards and gardens where it can be enjoyed acoustically, so I specialize in small weddings of about 50 guests or less.

Amplified service is available for larger venues and groups either through the PA system of the venue, or with the use of my amplification system.

In either case, your wedding will be an affair to cherish forever with the addition of the classical guitar to your ceremony.

  • Up to 30 minutes of prelude music
  • Processional for attendants/ parents
  • Processional for bride
  • Optional interlude during ceremony or background music during readings
  • Recessional and celebration music at conclusion of ceremony

Marriage Proposal

Doug is a consummate gentleman that performed amicably at our dinner table. It was a dinner date that was to be the marriage proposal. I picked three songs from his repertoire and added a song request that he had to learn in a few days. He came on time and performed each song very well and set the tone for the romantic evening. I would highly recommend Doug for your next personal occasion for that touch of romanticism that acoustic music can provide. She said YES!

Doug was awesome!!!! He did all of our pre ceremony, ceremony and cocktail hour music for our recent beach wedding in Hilton Head. Our guests loved it and he provided a classy touch. It was amazing what songs he can master on just an acoustic guitar and it was perfect for the beach setting. Thanks so much Doug -- you were awesome!!!
